Emotional Eating Support Group

With the New Year in full swing, many resolve to make health and wellness a top priority, but are often unable to make it a reality. To assist those who struggle with an unhealthy relationship with food, Resolve Community Counseling Center, Inc. is offering a free support group for adults who experience feelings of guilt, shame, or disgust related to eating.

The group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from January 29th – May 7th at Resolve’s offices, located at 1830 Front Street in Scotch Plains.

The group will address issues revolving around food, weight, and body image in a caring, compassionate, and confidential environment. Members can find strength amongst others with similar experiences and have the opportunity to speak honestly and openly about their struggles in a safe, therapeutic setting, while gaining knowledge and building upon coping skills and self-acceptance.

Participation is limited to 8 members. Those interested may join at any time, as a wait list will be developed to allow new members in when space opens up. Please contact the group’s facilitator, Cheryl Jacko, at 908-322-9180 or ResolveEmotionalEating@gmail.com for more information. Cheryl is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Counseling and has an extensive background in nutrition. She is supervised by Christine Mahoney, LPC.

Resolve Community Counseling Center is a nonprofit mental health organization providing counseling, psychotherapy, and psychological services for people from all social and economic backgrounds. Fees for individual counseling are determined on a sliding scale, according to ability to pay. Please visit resolvenj.com for more information.
