This race was started by a group of local runners, who wanted to see a great event in their own downtown for the betterment of the downtown. And that group has joined with another group of local residents to who have previously put on the Patrick J. Allocca Memorial 5K. Together, this race will raise money to do something special in the downtown of Scotch Plains as well as for a charitable recipient.
Last year's charitable recipient was camp Camp Clover. Camp Clover is a week-long summer day camp for children ages 7 to 15 who have experienced a bereavement in their family. Camp Clover offers traditional summer camp programs like swimming, sports, and arts and crafts, as well as educational and therapeutic activities designed to assist children in their grieving process. Activities are planned to foster coping skills that children can use throughout their lives.

Would you like to be a part of this exciting event, but aren't quite up for doing the full 5K race? We would love to have you partake as a volunteer, either at the start/finish helping with activities such as handing out water bottles, or along the race course to help monitor an intersection, or if you live along the course, to provide some sort of entertainment/refreshment to the runners as they pass by. If so, please email us at email@example.com.
