Scotch Plains Senior Trip to Mamma Mia!

The Senior Citizen Advisory Committee is sponsoring a trip to the iconic Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford, NY to see a performance of the hit broadway and movie "Mamma Mia!" on Thursday, April 13. The bus will leave from Scotch Hills parking lot at 9 a.m.

 

Registration for this special event opens on February 13. The cost for the one-day program is $55 for Scotch Plains and Fanwood residents and $57 for everyone else.

Small Fry Camp Registration Opens Feb. 7

Registration for the Small Fry Camp (3-5 years-old) at Green Forest Park will open on Thurs., Feb. 7 at 8:30 a.m.

 

There will be three separate sessions to choose from this summer including:

 

Session 1: July 5-14

  • 9:00 to 11:15 a.m. ($145) or 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. ($115)

Session 2: July 17-28

  • 9:00 to 11:15 a.m. ($155) or 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. ($125)

Session 3: July 31 - August 11

  • 9:00 to 11:15 a.m. ($155) or 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. ($125)

Summer Day Camp Employment Opportunity

The Township of Scotch Plains Parks and Recreation Department is hiring camp counselors for the upcoming 2017 Summer Day Camp. The annual camp is offered to boys and girls from K-6th Grade and will be held at Brookside Park from July 5 through August 11 from 9 a.m. til 3 p.m.

Summer Day Camp Registration Opens Jan. 31

Registration for Summer Day Camp (K-6th Grade) will open on Tuesday, January 31 at 8:30 a.m.

 

The six-week camp will run from Wednesday, July 5 through Friday, August 11  at Brookside Park (1255 Hetfield Avenue). Cost for the program is $390 plus additional trips (optional).

Employment Application: Summer Day Camp

Employment applications are now open for candidates for Scotch Plains' Summer Day Camp. 

 

The camp is a six-week program that runs from Wednesday, July 5 through Friday, August 11. Counselors must commit to work throughout the entire program.

 

The deadline to complete the application is Friday, March 3.

The Scotch Plains Parks and Recreation Department will be rolling out a number of initiatives for 2017.

Basketball Camp: Kindergarten to 2nd Grade

Sign-ups are underway for the Winter K-2 Basketball Clinic (January 9 - March 13, 2017). All sessions will take place on Mondays at the Evergreen Elementary School Gym. Session times follow:

  • Kindergarten Clinic: 6-6:45 p.m.
  • 1st Grade Clinic: 6:45-7:30 p.m.
  • 2nd Grade Clinic: 7:30-8:15 p.m.

Parents can register via Community Pass or in person at the Recreation Office. Registration for each kid is $80.
