2019 Summer Camp (Day Camp at Brookside Park and Small Fry at Green Forest Park)

Job Descriptions:

CITs

  • Typically an applicant who is currently in their first year of high school (2018-2019 school year) or someone with little to no experience

Responsibilities:

  • The #1 goal is to make each camper's experience as fun and rewarding as possible
  • Responsible for the general safety of campers in his/her assigned group, providing basic First Aid (band aids), and knowing campers' whereabouts at all times
  • Supervises group of campers while Counselor(s) and Head Counselor(s) take attendance each day
  • Sets up and breaks down recreational equipment used for activities
  • Fills water coolers
  • Under the direction of the group's Counselor(s) and Head Counselor(s), CITs are responsible for supporting campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities
  • Reports details of incidents up the Chain of Command
  • Other reasonable duties, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must complete first year of high school prior to the start of camp
  • Must be a good role model for cleanliness and good sportsmanship
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment
  • Must have the desire and stamina to play outdoors all day
  • Ability to accept guidance
  • Should have a basic understanding of camp activities
  • Should have an upbeat, engaging personality
  • Must attend all team trainings and meetings upon being hired

Counselors

  • Typically an applicant who served as a CIT before or has experience working with children

Responsibilities:

  • The #1 goal is to make each camper's experience as fun and rewarding as possible
  • Responsible for the general safety of campers in his/her assigned group, providing basic First Aid (band aids, ice packs, splinters, etc.), and knowing campers' whereabouts at all times
  • Assists the group's Head Counselor(s) with daily attendance
  • Sets up and breaks down recreational equipment used for activities
  • Fills water coolers
  • Under the direction of the group's Head Counselor, Counselors are responsible for leading and supporting campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities and delegating tasks to CITs, as needed
  • Maintains proper use of camp facilities and equipment
  • Reports details of incidents up the Chain of Command
  • Provides supervision to campers on off-site field trips, as assigned
  • Other reasonable duties, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must complete first year of high school prior to the start of camp
  • Must be a good role model for cleanliness and good sportsmanship
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment
  • Desire and stamina to play outdoors all day
  • Ability to accept guidance
  • Should have a basic understanding of camp activities

  • Should have some experience being a leader and delegating tasks

Head Counselors

  • Typically an applicant who has camp experience and/or experience working with children, as well as a demonstrated history of leadership

Responsibilities:

  • The #1 goal is to make each camper's experience as fun and rewarding as possible
  • Responsible for the general safety of campers in his/her assigned group, ability to provide First Aid/CPR and knowing the whereabouts of campers, group CITs, and group Counselors at all times
  • Documents the group's attendance multiple times each day (including Counselors and CITs)
  • Manages the group check-in area and interacting with parents/guardians upon pick-up and drop-off
  • Under the direction of the Supervisor(s) and Camp Director(s), Head Counselors are responsible for supporting Counselors and CITs in leading and supporting campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities and delegating tasks to CITs, as needed
  • Monitors campers to ensure compliance with camp rules
  • Maintains proper use of camp facilities and equipment
  • Ensures that all equipment is secure and stored properly
  • Reports details of incidents up the Chain of Command and working with Supervisor(s) and Camp Director(s) to solve problems
  • Keeps track of time and managing group's rotation between stations
  • Provides supervision to campers on off-site field trips, as assigned
  • Other reasonable duties, as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Strong leadership, communication, and time management skills
  • Must be a good role model to campers, Counselors, and CITs
  • Ability to accept guidance
  • Must have experience leading and participating in camp activities
  • Should have an upbeat, engaging personality
  • Must attend all team trainings and meetings upon being hired

Supervisors

  • Typically an applicant who has relevant work experience and the ability to interact well with campers, parents, and other staff.  

Responsibilities:

  • The #1 goal is to make each camper's experience as fun and rewarding as possible
  • Supervises and manages CITs, Counselors, and Head Counselors
  • Records daily staff attendance
  • Tracks and manages daily activity station rotations
  • Available for support during drop-off and pick-up times
  • Records details of incidents and works with Camp Director to solve and report to parents if necessary
  • Ensures that recreation equipment is maintained, secured, and stored properly
  • Ensures that the site is clean at the end of each day
  • Communicates with parents about participants' experiences ans reports concerns to Camp Director
  • Assists Head Counselors, Counselors, and CITs with leadership and counseling skills
  • Schedules Head Counselors and other support staff for off-site field trips
  • May perform other administrative tasks such as filing, record keeping, etc.

Requirements:

  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Strong leadership, communication, time management, and customer service skills
  • Understanding of camp mission, rules, and incident prevention
  • Must be a good role model to campers, Head Counselors, Counselors, and CITs
  • Ability to accept guidance and delegate tasks
  • Must have experience leading and participating in camp activities
  • Should have an upbeat, engaging personality
  • Must attend all team trainings and meetings upon being hired   

To Apply:

  • All applicants must complete 9th grade prior to the start of camp (2018-2019 school year)
  • All applicants must be available to work June 26 - Aug 2, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm (shifts may vary).  If a vacation has already been planned, this must be disclosed during the interview process
  • A resume should be submitted with the application
  • The final deadline to submit an application is Friday, March 1, 2019
