An application for a marriage license may be obtained from the town in which either the bride or groom resides.  If both applicants are from out of town then they apply in the town where the marriage will take place. A witness is required and must be 18 years of age or older. Proof of residency is required such as driver’s license, passport, county I.D. or birth certificate.  The fee is $28.00.  There is a 3 day waiting period from the time the couple applies and the license is issued.  Then the license is good for 30 days.  If a divorce occurred  a copy of the divorce decree should be presented.  After the marriage takes place the town where the marriage occurred would hold the license and that is where you would  obtain a certified copy.
