Scotch Plains Voices Its Support for Ukraine

Town Hall was adorned in blue and yellow lights on Tuesday night, as the community joined together to voice its support for the people of Ukraine during a candlelight vigil.

An estimated 200 people attended the solemn, hour-long event, in which Mayor Josh Losardo, local clergy and residents spoke about the plight of the Ukrainian people and urged attendees to donate funds, food and clothing.

“We are demonstrating our support for Ukraine, a free, proud and independent nation,” Losardo said. “We join towns and cities, not only across New Jersey, but across the world in a show of solidarity for a nation struggling to survive under enormous odds. May Ukraine be victorious and may its people once again enjoy the freedoms that we embrace here in America.”

The event was live streamed on the Township's Facebook page.
