JOB ANNOUNCEMENT - Laborer 1 (Permanent)

Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • Will be required to perform various types of manual and skilled labor
  • May be required to drive a truck in connection with laboring work on some occasions
  • Maintaining the parks and facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment, which includes sanitizing of facilities as well as trash removal
  • Work involves the use of hand tools, power tools, and lawn/garden equipment
  • Makes repairs to playgrounds and equipment as needed
  • Often works in all types of weather conditions
  • May perform work independently or be part of a crew
  • Must be available to work scheduled shifts, as well as emergency overtime shifts

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a valid New Jersey Driver’s License
  • Must possess valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – CLASS B
  • Pesticide license not required, but applicant must be willing to obtain if hired

NOTE: The responsibility for ensuring that employees possess the required motor vehicle license, commensurate with the class and type of vehicle they operate, rest with the Appointing Authority.
