Scotch Plains Raises African American Heritage Flag in Honor of Black History Month
Township officials participated in a ceremonial raising of the African American heritage flag at Town Hall before Tuesday evening's Council meeting in honor of Black History Month.
During the meeting, the Council issued a resolution recognizing Black History Month, which celebrates the achievements of African Americans and their pivotal role in American history.
The resolution adds: “In remaining hopeful and confident about the path ahead, and a time to acknowledge the courageous fight for the rights, liberties and freedoms for all Americans, the Township of Scotch Plains observes and honors Black History Month and encourages the community to learn about the heritage and achievements of African Americans.”
