Scotch Plains Announces Summer Road Repaving Plan

Scotch Plains Announces Summer Road Repaving Plan

It’s another sign of spring in Scotch Plains: the announcement of the summer road repaving plan.

Each year, the Township Council dedicates funding in the capital budget to the road program, which is supplemented by funds from a Union County grant.

Leadership in the municipal Department of Public Works continuously collaborates with the Township Engineer to evaluate municipal roads throughout the year and create a list of priority streets. The Township tries to complete as many as possible, focusing on need.

“Repaving roads each summer is about more than smooth pavement — it's about continually investing in the safety and quality of life of every Scotch Plains resident,” said Mayor Josh Losardo. “These improvements will make our streets even safer for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike, and reflects our ongoing commitment to maintaining the infrastructure our community depends on every day."

Of note: the Hetfield Avenue section is being repaved as part of a shared service with Fanwood. Additionally, with grants from the state Department of Transportation, Stocker Lane, Homestead Terrace and Edgewood Terrace will be getting repaved this season.

This summer’s list includes:

  • Marlboro Road
