Time Capsule Opening
Scotch Plains will celebrate the country's 250th anniversary and the town's rich local history and connections to the American Revolution. The celebration will include a wreath-laying ceremony at the Scotch Plains Baptist Church, a parade, and festive activities. The Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution will be participating in the ceremony. The town will also unveil the time capsule placed in 1984 in front of the Town Hall. The historic Stage House Tavern will be providing food. The festivities will include engaging entertainment in downtown Scotch Plains on Park Avenue, in front of Town Hall, and at the Alan M. Augustine Village Green. The town’s local historic groups will also be present to share our town's rich heritage. The town is excited to welcome reenactors George Washington, Rochambeau, and a Dragoon Officer Lead to celebrate with us.
Approximate Order of Events:
○ 4:30 pm – Ceremony and Wreath Laying at the Scotch Plains Baptist Church
○ 5:00 pm – Parade Starts from Scotch Plains Baptist Church to the steps of Town Hall
○ 5:30 pm – Time Capsule Opening
○ 6:00 to 7:30 pm – Food and Festivities on the Village Green
